Arranging GP Registrar placements

The method used for arranging general practice placements will depend upon which stage of training the GP Registrar is in.

  • Months 1-12 (full time equivalent) of GP Placements are organised through CSQTC via the formal Matching and Allocation Process (MAP). These placements are generally only undertaken in Level 1 Training Practices.
  • Months 13-18 (full time equivalent) of GP Placements and the six months of Extended Skills (if done in general practice) are organised by the GP Registrar applying directly to Practices.  These placements can be undertaken in Level 1 or 2 Training Practices.
To find out more about how general practice placements are arranged for a specific stage of training, please see the Quick Links section, where you will find links to speedy information that will assist you with your current needs.
