Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training
Welcome to CSQTC’s online area about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training.Since 1996, all doctors training in GP in Australia have been required to undertake Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training as part of the General Practice training program. Each regional training provider is required to provide training to meet this component of the curriculum.
At CSQTC, we use as the basis of the training the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health module which was developed along with the original curriculum. We are constantly refining this process and work in partnership with local Aboriginal Health organisations to provide meaningful training experiences in this area. For details of the specific program run by CSQTC please see the Quick Link CSQTC's Approach.
As this a national curriculum requirement of great significance GPET has dedicated a considerable amount of staff and resources to this area. We have provided a link to a relevant part of GPET’s website where you can access this resources and information.
In 2012, CSQTC has published its Reconciliation Action Plan which has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
