• Generally, Registrar expenses including travel, accommodation and other associated expenses for attendance at compulsory CSQTC workshops and educational activities during the first year of general practice placements will be funded by CSQTC.
• For information on how accommodation and travel are organised and how GP Registrars can claim expenses, please see CSQTC Guidelines for GP Registrar Expense Claims.
• GP Registrars are provided with information on funding and associated procedures at the commencement of their first general practice term placements. The claim form for GP Registrar Expenses can be found on the Forms and Documents page.
  
• There is also funding for GP Trainers when attending required GP Trainer training.  GP Trainers are provided with the relevant information when they attend these activities.
• Please read the CSQTC Cancellation Policy in relation to accommodation and travel organised by CSQTC.

• Compulsory advanced life support (ALS) and/or emergency skills courses - for ALL GP Registrars.
  
• Special service delivery requirements courses - for GP Registrars who need to gain specific skills required to care for patients in locations where those skills are in short supply.
• CSQTC funded REST courses - for more distant, rurally based GP Registrars (eligibility and locations determined by CSQTC) who need to gain and maintain trauma/emergency skills are eligible to attend a CSQTC funded Rural Emergency Skills Training (REST) course each year.
  
• AST curriculum courses - for GP Registrars who are undertaking some Advanced Skills Training/Advanced Specialised Training (AST) and who need to complete specific courses to meet curriculum requirements.

• Support is generally available for one 6 month full-time equivalent rural general practice placement only, however, this placement can occur at any time during a GP Registrar's training. Those GP Registrars staying on in rural locations are eligible for ongoing financial support via the Australian Government’s GPRIP.
• The level of financial support available is 'attached' to the Training Practice, with each Training Practice having a specific dollar amount allocated to it. 
• Limited funding may be available for a second 6 month rural placement, only under certain circumstances.
• There is a wide range of possible claim items for which GP Registrars can seek support depending on individual circumstances.
• GP Registrars who are already rurally located and are not, therefore, relocating to undertake a placement will be able to claim increased financial support for the first 6 months for items to which they were previously not eligible.
• In some cases there may be specific rental support available via some Training Practices and where approved, this rental support would be available for 12 months (approved per calendar year). These would normally be rural/remote Training Practices that are in locations which have clearly demonstrated hardship in securing accommodation for Registrars and hence require assistance to ensure that accommodation is retained and readily available for Registrars on a term by term basis.  Training Practices that feel they have a case for additional rental assistance need to make formal application to CSQTC.  Those Training Practices that have received approval for additional rental assistance for the remainder of the 2010 training year are listed in the CSQTC Policy Statement - Rural Support.

1. A General Pathway Registrar training with a practice in an Outer Metropolitan area will receive a payment of $2,500 for a 12 month placement (incentives are not available for placements of less than 12 months).
2. The payment will normally be made at the commencement of the second half of the 12 month placement period.
3. Registrars undertaking part-time training will receive a pro-rata equivalent payment calculated by their regional training provider.

• GP Registrars completing the General Pathway of the AGPTP, may be eligible for the Relocation Incentive Grant if they choose to work in an outer metropolitan practice, even if their final training placement is in a rural or outer metropolitan area.
• Approval of applications are subject to Medicare Australia recognising that the Registrar has achieved RACGP Fellowship. 
• Registrars need to apply within three months of achieving Fellowship. After that they will be assessed against the normal eligibility criteria that apply to general practitioners and specialists.
• GP Registrars on the Rural Pathway of the AGPTP are not eligible for the grant.
