Congratulations to Dr Kathryn Isbel CSQTC is delighted to announce that Dr Kathryn Isbel is the recipient of the Maureen Duke and Marian Sullivan Memorial Award for the 2007.1 RACGP Fellowship exam. This award is received by the Queensland general practice Registrar with the highest overall score in each examination. Well done Kathryn and congratulations from the CSQTC Board and all staff on your achievement of this outstanding outcome in these examinations. MAP 2008 Round 1 closes Monday 30 July 2007 A reminder to all Category 1 Practices and GP Registrars who are currently participating in MAP 2008 Round 1, that ‘Confirmation of Employment Agreement' forms for negotiated placements should be lodged with CSQTC before close of business Monday 30 July 2007. Practices and GP Registrars who have been involved in MAP 2008 Round 1 but who do not have a confirmed placement for one or both halves of 2008 are requested to contact Jo Morris (jmorris@csqtc.qld.edu.au or ph: 07 35528100) by 17 August 2007 to indicate whether they wish to be included in MAP 2008 Round 2, which commences Friday 31 August 2007. Monitoring Data & Teaching Log (MDTL) forms & Invoices for June 2007 due now The recommended date for the submission of MDTLs and invoices for the month of June was 18 July 2007. If your Practice has not yet submitted paperwork for June, please do so as soon as possible. Please see the GP Trainers' or GP Practice Managers' Calendars on the CSQTC website for recommended dates for monthly submission of MDTLs and invoices. Many Practices have conscientiously submitted their MDTLs and invoices by due date each month during 2007.1 and, as we embark on a new term, it is only fair that they should be recognised for their diligence. Timely, accurate and legible (preferably electronic) submissions support the work of the Practice Services Officer and assist the smooth running of the CSQTC Finance Department, ensuring payments are issued promptly. Practices are also reminded that 2007 heralds the introduction of Annual Practice Reports. While the final reporting formula is still under discussion, one element will be the manner in which MDTLs and invoices have been submitted and the historical record for 2007.1 has already commenced. Please refer to the Payments for having GP Registrars in GP Terms page on the CSQTC website (accessible under the GP Trainers and GP Practice Managers menu items) to access Best Practice Tips for MDTLs and invoices or use the direct website link http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/index.php?action=view&view=15154&pid=7898. Australian General Practice Training - 2008 GP Registrar Intake Round 1 interviews for CSQTC Registrar intake for 2008 Australian General Practice Training are underway and conclude Friday 10 August 2007. The process involves self-evaluation by the RTP and a site visit by a review team. Planning is currently underway for CSQTC's review and accreditation process, with Mr Robert Hale, Manager Review and Accreditation from GPET visiting our office this week to establish the framework for our site visit. Our site visit will take place 4-6 September 2007. The accreditation review team will consist of a CEO and Medical Educator from another RTP, two representatives from the RACGP, one representative from the ACRRM, an ex-GP Registrar from another RTP and two GPET staff. The review team will be consulting with several GP Registrars, Trainers, Medical Educators, stakeholders, CSQTC Board members and staff regarding how GP Training is implemented in our training region. The review team will conduct site visits to several Training Practices and Hospitals. Queries regarding CSQTC's re-accreditation review should be directed to CSQTC CEO, Mr Peter Harrison pharrison@csqtc.qld.edu.au. Further information about the review and accreditation of RTPs can be found on the AGPT website http://www.agpt.com.au/praxis.php/category/view/27. Cost/Benefit Study for GP Training Practices of providing training to GP Registrars GPET will be engaging an independent consultant to conduct an examination of the costs and benefits accruing to general practices and Trainers in the provision of training to GP Registrars undertaking the AGPT program. This project is expected to commence in August 2007. Should you wish to input into this review, contact CSQTC CEO, Mr Peter Harrison pharrison@csqtc.qld.edu.au. Evaluation of GPET's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training Framework GPET is currently in the process of appointing an evaluator to undertake an evaluation of GPET's framework for General Practice Training in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. The current framework was developed in 2003 and was intended to be used within the AGPT program for the period 2003-2008. The evaluation is expected to commence in September 2007.
