Exam Preparation: GPRA Webinar 'Surviving (and Passing) the OSCE' - Additional Dates Announced As promoted in the last edition of Consortium Chatter, GPRA is offering free exam preparation webinars for GP Registrars who are preparing to sit the upcoming 2012.1 RACGP OSCE. By popular demand, GPRA is now offering MORE webinars for Registrar members to hear from 2 peers who have sat and passed the OSCE recently. The earlier two sessions are the same, but different to the last two, new sessions. The dates are as follows:
*ESDST. Eastern Daylight Savings. For more information about the webinars go to http://www.gpra.org.au/exam-preparation-webinars If you're not yet a GPRA member, go to www.gpra.org.au to sign-up and explore all the available resources for members (you need to be a GPRA member to participate in these webinars). ACRRM Registrars Required to Enrol and Have ACRRM Membership by 31 March 2012 ACRRM requires all GP Registrars tracking towards their Fellowship to enrol and maintain current financial membership of ACRRM throughout their training. Registrars wanting to enrol in FACRRM should do so by visiting the Vocational Training webpage https://www.acrrm.org.au/vocational-training and completing the online form. Registrars completing Core Clinical Training terms during 2012 should enrol as soon as possible in an effort to avoid the need for completion of RPL documentation. Registrars failing to enrol with ACRRM by 31 March 2012 may be required to complete RPL documentation for their Core Clinical Training year. 2012 ACRRM Registrars who have commenced in Primary Rural Remote Training terms should email Dr Bill Lang blang@csqtc.qld.edu.au or Dr Patricia Stuart pstuart@csqtc.qld.edu.au to confirm the need for completion of RPL documentation for Core Clinical Training terms. CSQTC-Facilitated (and Funded) Emergency Skills Courses 2012 - Express Your Interest Now!! In an endeavour to assist Registrars to meet ACRRM and/or RACGP Emergency Skills requirements CSQTC will, during 2012, facilitate and fund five different Emergency Skills courses for Registrars. For updated information on the ACRRM and RACGP curriculum requirements for Emergency Skills training please visit our new website page Training Requirement – Emergency Skills http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/index.php?action=view&view=7524 From this page you can link through to the website page CSQTC-Facilitated Emergency Skills Courses 2012 http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/index.php?action=view&view=120673 to access information and to express interest in attending a course. While there are insufficient positions for the entire CSQTC Registrar cohort to attend a course during the 2012 training year, there is a variety of courses to enable some Registrars to choose a course suitable to meet their particular needs and College requirements. There will be no course registration fees during 2012 for these courses, therefore, Registrars attending a CSQTC-facilitated Emergency Skills course are not eligible to make any further claim from Category 1 of CSQTC's Policy Statement - Course Cost Reimbursement - use the following link to read this policy http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/content/Document/CSQTC%20Policy%20Statement%20-%20Course%20Cost%20Reimbursement.pdf So, what does this all mean? If you are a GP Registrar who needs to undertake an Emergency Skills course to fulfil a College curriculum requirement (eg. ACRRM Emergency Medicine Course requirement or RACGP ALS requirement), you can go about it by one of two ways: 1. Express your interest in attending one of the five courses being facilitated by CSQTC, by completing the online form available at http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/index.php?action=view&view=120673
2. Complete a course other than one of the five being facilitated by CSQTC as detailed above. To do this you should:

Only 1 week to go until close of abstract submissions for the 2012 GPET Convention The 2012 GPET Convention, themed 'Seeking wisdom for our changing world', will be held at the Sebel Albert Park, in Melbourne 5-6 September 2012. It is appreciated if you can please distribute this information to all GP Trainers in your Practice. Is the GPET Convention worth attending? We definitely think so, and you can read about the experiences of CSQTC Medical Educators, Staff, Board Directors, GP Trainers and GP Registrars from last year's GPET Convention, by visiting http://www.csqtc.qld.edu.au/index.php?action=view&view=109406 Mental Health Training - Update for Practice Managers, Supervisors and Registrars Over the last two months all GP Registrars undertaking their 1st 6 months in GP, in all districts, have had the chance to do the Mental Health Course offered by CSQTC. This course will eventually allow Registrars to access higher rebates for Medicare Item Numbers in Mental Health. However, Registrars cannot use the higher rebate item number until they receive confirmation of registration in a letter from Medicare – this takes about 2 months from the date of training and is dependent on the Registrar supplying CSQTC with:
