CSQTC’s Response to National Initiatives for Collaborative Arrangements, Including a Reduction in the Number of Regional Training Providers Across Australia
During the course of this year, and particularly since the Commonwealth Government’s May 2009 Budget, Regional Training Providers have been addressing Commonwealth Government and GPET expectations for enhanced collaborative arrangements among RTPs, including a reduction in the total number of RTPs. I am writing to update you on the current strategic approach being taken by the CSQTC Board. Please go to the Latest News section of the CSQTC website and click on the item 'Collaborations considering mergers of RTPs' for information about this and an invitation for our stakeholders to provide comments and suggestions.
Fourteen GP Registrars who are preparing to sit the RACGP's 2009.2 OSCE attended CSQTC's Clinical Exam Support Workshop on the evening of 19 August 2009. A new format was used for this workshop and our supervising Medical Educator, Dr Peter McKain, reported that he was very pleased with how the new workshop ran. The role plays were challenging and stimulating and we hope that the workshop served to calm some pre-exam nerves. Overall, it was a great night. Best wishes for everyone with their focused study and preparation, and good luck on the day!
A reminder to all GP Registrars and Training Practices involved in first year general practice placements for Term 2009.2, that your GP Term Placement Schedules should now have been signed and returned to CSQTC. If you have not yet done so please make this priority this week. All questions can be directed to Jo Morris on 3552 8112 or at email@example.com.
Due to some last minute cancellations, there are a couple of tables available for Category 1 and 2+ Practices who wish to exhibit at the Practice Expo 2009, which is being held as part of the CSQTC EXPOsed Workshop on Saturday 5 September 2009 at the Central Bardon Conference Venue in Brisbane. If your Practice is interested in attending, please contact Julie Ball firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 24 August 2009, for an information pack and registration form. The Practice Expo is a great opportunity for your Practice to get exposure to the new 2010 GP Registrar entrants. We anticipate that at least 40 of our new GP Registrars will attend the CSQTC EXPOsed Workshop and many of these Registrars will be commencing general practice placements in 2010. If you have any further questions about the Practice Expo, please email Julie or contact her by phone on 07 3552 8100.
A reminder of a few CSQTC educational events taking place next week:
From Monday 31 August 2009 for the whole week, CSQTC senior staff including the CEO, Director of Medical Education, Medical Educators, Business Services Manager and our RLO and HLO, will be interstate whilst they attend the Annual GPET Convention and associated meetings in Adelaide. It is requested that you please avoid contacting CSQTC during Convention week for business that would require action by the above mentioned members of our staff. If an urgent issue arises, which you feel requires the attention of one of these staff members, please contact the CSQTC office so that we can look after your needs. For non urgent matters, you can contact CSQTC to leave a message and this will be attended to on the staff member's return.
